Getting his foot into the fashion world at only fifteen years of age, Marc Jacobs attended the High School of Art and Design in New York before moving on to the Parsons School of Design, also in New York. There, in early recognition of his genius, he won both, the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award as well as the Chester Weinberg Gold Thimble Award.

Later, Jacobs began designing at Perry Ellis after which he would form Jacobs Duffy Designs which still exists today. The first line of the Marc Jacobs label came out in 1986.
22 years later, the March Jacobs flag still flies high as the most sought-after shoe brand for fashionable shoes.
